Breeding for love…not for profit!

When we saw this wee soggy foal we were stopped in our tracks, reading the comments we suspected she was something special for breeder Kara Spoor.  On further investigation we can confirm she absolutely is.  Ordinarily we’d write our own story, but Kara’s answer to our question, “Why is this filly so special? Fill us in…”, was summed up so perfectly we wouldn’t dare change it, emoji’s n’ all!  It’s good to keep it real!

“I’m so in love and so is the mare.😍

“Story… how long have you got?🙈

“I’d just got back into riding after the children and had no money 🙄She was given to me by old boss Mr Jim Hill – he loved her but was an older gentleman and Ally was a handful at times to say the least.

“She got me my first gate, my first final and won me my first draft….. she was tough, tenacious and fearless and I trusted her to stay on her feet (she was too prissy to fall on her face) probably the only horse that I’ve ever sent full throttle and not thought about the what if’s – my heart horse!

“She’s 23 and suffers with placentitis and I had tried for 2 years to AI her to no avail… then last season I happened to look out the window and noticed her tail in the air hanging on the fence with a gelding.😳

“I raced her over to my vet and beautiful friend who confirmed she had a follicle of 50mm and was about to ovulate.😳

“When Jamie got home from work I begged him to let me live cover her.

“Duck and Ally didn’t really have the best of relationships as she’s a very dominant mare.  But Jamie agreed with my crazy plan. 🙈

“I told Ducky to take one for the team and close his eyes and that he did.💓

“My two loves rolled into one little baby girl – I’m on cloud nine.🥰”

Kara added that it was a very long 11 months, “Lots of scans and meds and literally round the clock watch but we did it 🥳

Ally means the absolute world to Kara, “I hate that she’s getting old 😞 but I will care for her until her last breath.”

Doesn’t get much better than this!
