Martins Stock Haulage of Scone presented the 2017 NCHA Open Futurity Gelding Incentive on Wednesday night where local Piallamore resident Dean Holden snagged first place in the final field of 10 horses aboard his roan gelding, Triple Six.
The professional cutting horse trainer was all smiles on the stylish three year old taking home a score of 217 to defeat his competition, one point ahead of Wellington trainer Scott Johnston riding Bad Harry.
Holden will also ride Triple Six in the Open Futurity final on Sunday afternoon.
Barrabaβs 28 year old Amelia Servin has managed to execute two consistent go rounds in the Yulgilbar Quarter Horse Stud Non Pro Futurity to put her in the top aggregate going into the final with a total score of 431 on her chestnut mare Fancy Grass.
Servin, who has amassed nearly $360,000 in earnings in less than 10 years, has snagged the last two champion titles of the three year old event and aims to make this her trifecta, with more entries in the Non Pro Classic Challenge and Non Pro Derby running later in the week.
Friday kicks off the Finals of all aged events with the much anticipated Bayer E-Mox Pro & SDP Buffalo Ranch Open Futurity final to be held on Sunday 11th June.
