Morgan and Emma Webb arrived at the 2022 Nutrien Classic with one plan – to sell horses and go home.  Buying a horse, far less a colt, was never on the agenda.

But, one ride on Westy, as they call him, was all it took.  He was hard to ignore and $20,000 later he was theirs.  “He is the cheapest horse we ever bought of that calibre, and the best,” laughs Emma.

Westy went straight to work mustering and did plenty of miles.  Emma said,“He really just needed riding more than specific training.  He had so much natural talent that it was simply a matter of adding the buttons to what was already there.“

His competition career began in 2023 when he won the Battle on Bidgee Stockman’s Challenge. In 2024 he added another 7 wins to his tally and another 6 in 2025, including the coveted Nutrien Classic Challenge.  So far this year he has won another two including his second Man From Snowy River Ladies Challenge.

And guess what?  He’s still only 6 years old, the best is yet to come!
