Combined with the annual Tocal College Approved ASH Sale is the annual Tocal Stock Horse Challenge where students not only showcase what they have achieved with their horses on their journey, they showcase the horses many of which will enter the sale the following year.

There are 2 components to the Challenge: UTILITY SECTION & DRY WORK PATTERN, each are allocated points with the highest point score overall determining the winner of the challenge.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲.
𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
Includes loading a horse onto the float, handling all four feet, cracking a stock whip and opening and shutting a gate. The students then guide their horse through a U shape pole obstacle course, over a tarp and onto the bridge where they bag their horse down with a small tarp and finish with jumping a small jump.
𝗗𝗥𝗬 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
Incorporates a simple working pattern that students perform at a walk, trot and canter and incorporates a simple change, roll back, stop and back up.
Students may also teach their horses tricks and liberty exercises which they perform in a separate free style section of the challenge.
