Saturday was a very sad day for the Acton family, as Kirkbys Stud Blue Moon was laid to rest. Blue Moon was 32 years old and had been happily living out her retirement in the paddock next to the homestead at Millungera. Blue Moon had become part of the family and part of the landscape.
Blue Moon won over 28 open drafts in her career, including running 2nd in the Chinchilla Grandfather Clock and finaling in the Warwick Gold Cup 4 times.
Successful Stallion Millungeras Moon Beam is the eldest of her progeny. Another stand out was her daughter Blue Violet who had great success with Laura Macintosh in a very short period of time before she was lost to a snake bite. She won the ABCRA Northern Zone Maiden Horse of the Year, was 3rd in the Maiden Series and won the ASH Maiden Series Plate.
Blue Moon will be sadly missed, as Sandi Bennett says, visiting Blue Moon is part of the Millungera tour.
Condolences to Evan & Kym Acton.
