Eagle Hustler is a 2013 drop registered HSH Stallion, by Hazelwood Conman and out of Warrenbri Omega mare, Kirkbys Stud Bonita. He was purchased for $22,000 as a 2yo through the then Landmark Classic Sale by Troy & Sally Clarke and Richard & Debbie Sadler. The vendor, Peter Siejka of Blayney.

The story began when all four were sitting in a caravan at Landmark and Richard asked Troy, “If you could buy any horse in the catalogue which one would it be?” Before Troy could answer Sally jumped in saying, “There is this Conman colt.” To which Debbie said, “I know the one you’re talking about.”
The wheels immediately spun into motion; the girls found the horse in the catalogue and sourced his sale videos from social media. From there they proceeded to inspect the horse who was being presented by Ben Mooney on behalf of Peter.
Ben offered Troy a ride on Hustler, and as he was cantering around in the back warm up arena another horse cut him off, and without any prompting he hesitated a stride so as not to collide. This was the first selling point that had them hooked. The couples then came to an agreement that if the purchase went ahead Troy would be the riding half, so Richard grabbed a bidding card in their names and the rest as they say is history.
Following the sale Eagle Hustler spent many hours mustering and sorting up cattle and was only lightly drafted. In 2018, still only 4yo, he returned to Tamworth with Troy and competed in the Classic. Scores of 90, 89 & 91 saw them place equal 2nd. In the coming months there were many successes and they secured the Maiden win at Cubbaroo in 2019. In 2021 he became an OPEN Horse when he won the Walcha Golden Gate Open. He continued to make finals and placed consistently.

Undoubtedly the career highlight to date is winning the 2023 Dalgety Animal Health Stallion Shootout, the most coveted of titles. It wasn’t an easy draft, the cattle were a bit difficult, but Eagle Hustler and Troy showcased their equine ability and years of horsemanship.
In Round 1 they piloted a black heifer around the course to take the win with a 90. They followed up with an 88 for a 2nd in Round 2, situating themselves in prime position going into the final “Cutout” Round with a 6-point lead. The unbeatable combination posted a 43 cutout (2 judges) to secure the overall win with a 5-point margin.
They experienced similar success in the big Open, but luck was not on their side in the final. However, their performance on the big stage certainly turned heads, although, he was already a very popular stallion, extremely busy in the breeding barn.
Eagle Hustler stands most of the breeding season with Richard and Debbie at Willow Tree where they stand him for live cover and have access to Carmyle Veterinary Services for AI collections.
Eagle Hustler has an amazing temperament, and this is being bred into his progeny, the eldest of which are now 6yo and are starting to compete successfully in campdrafting. The sales arena has seen similar success, progeny selling well through public auction since the get go. A tremendous tick of approval by the industry.
There’s much more that can be said about Eagle Hustler, but put simply, he has the makings of a Great Sire.
