Allcannons Tribute – A Testament to the power of Great Genetics!
For Stephen and Suzie Sheppard, breeding horses has always been about selecting for good-sized animals that are a pleasure to ride day-to-day, yet competitive when it matters most. Running cattle on properties at Mitchell and south of Charleville, the Sheppards spend countless hours in the saddle. They require their horses to be easy-going, soft and responsive, as much as they value athletic ability.

A Breeding Vision
The Sheppards’ breeding program is built on strong mare lines with carefully chosen bloodlines. They believe that mares with proven performance and production records are the foundation of consistent success. Over the years, this philosophy has produced a line of athletic and competitive horses that the family has proudly campaigned.
The Dam: Hamilton Park Charm
In 1995, Stephen and Suzie purchased Hamilton Park Charm, a versatile mare who quickly made her mark, winning campdrafts and challenges, as well as hack and show events with Suzie. After breaking her open status, Charm retired from competition and cemented her legacy as an exceptional broodmare. She was a full sister to open campdraft horses: Boonara Dartagnan, Hamilton Park Quigley, Hamilton Park Kawliga, Hamilton Park Scarlet, and Hamilton Park Kara.
Remarkably, every foal from Charm and her dam that entered the arena went on to win a draft.
The Sire: Kneipps Hanrahan
Tribute’s sire, Kneipps Hanrahan, carried his own powerful maternal influence, being out of a ¾ sister to the legendary broodmare Boonal Serenade. Purchased from Jess Turich, Hanrahan showed brilliance early, winning a challenge as a two-year-old and went on to win a maiden draft. Sadly, his career was cut short when he passed away at just six years old. Being so young, he had not yet sired many progeny, yet Hanrahan left behind a small but outstanding legacy, siring four open horses: Tribute, his full brother Lawson, sister Seduction, and ¾ sister Nina.

The Making of Tribute
From this cross came Allcannons Tribute, the colt the Sheppards’ kept to carry forward Hanrahan’s legacy. From the moment Stephen broke him in, he knew Tribute was special. Everything came effortlessly. His trainability, easy-going nature and hunger to work were evident from the beginning. Tribute’s temperament means that he can be treated like a gelding in many respects. He travels quietly, stands alongside other horses, and takes life in his stride.
But beneath the calm exterior lies a true competitor. Tribute has presence, personality, and a fierce determination in front of cattle. “He doesn’t like a beast to beat him,” Stephen says. With incredible athleticism for a big, strong horse, he excels in the yard. Yet Tribute also has speed outside, making him an outstanding all-rounder. Stephen says the confidence he feels when he rides into the yard on Tribute is unmatched: “No matter the cattle or the conditions, he delivers when you need him to.”

The Genetic Edge
What truly sets Tribute apart is the strength of his bloodlines. As a heritage Stock Horse, with no Acres or Conman in his pedigree, he offers breeders an invaluable outcross. His lineage is filled with campdraft winners and mares that have consistently produced open horses. Horses from this family are known for being the kind that anyone can win on. Tribute’s full sister, Seduction, epitomised this, winning Juvenile events and was competitive in ladies events. Anyone could hop on her and be competitive. She was known to be soft, kind, and reliable.
Even as the generations advance, the strength of the family remains. Charm’s oldest foal, Allcannons Deadly, is still drafting successfully at 18. The first of Tribute’s progeny began competing in 2025, placing in drafts. His progeny display the same temperament and ability that defines their sire.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
Tribute represents more than just a stallion – he is the culmination of decades of thoughtful breeding decisions, grounded in practical horsemanship and a deep respect for proven bloodlines. A horse of size, ability, temperament, and competitiveness, Tribute is both a reflection of his heritage and a beacon for the future.
Tributes foals are displaying his exceptional temperament and athleticism and the ability that defines their sire. The first ofhis progeny began competing in 2025 and are already placing.
Stephen Sheppard believes Tribute’s breeding gives him some of the best mare lines available, combining 2 of the best stockhorse mares lines in Minstrels Daughter and Cantana. Tribute is from a proven family, his dam Charm producing 7 draft winners so far.
