Bryan Proctor bought Smith Family Conjessman as a yearling from Barry Smith. He was looking for a colt by Hazelwood Conman with a strong bottom line and heard about Conjessman from Terry Hall.

Smith Family Conjessman & Emma Webb.
Bryan went to see the young colt and had to look beyond the immature, scruffy youngster, and see his future potential. He put faith in Barry’s recommendation and took the colt home. It would turn out to be a decision Bryan would never regret.
Conjessman went to Paul Spears at Tarcutta to be broken in. When he was ready to compete, he was sent to Emma O’Shea, who started him on the Queensland circuit for his first 2 years. Since then, Conjessman has been campaigned by Jack Shanahan of Barnawartha, Victoria.
Bryan describes Conjessman as being “the loveliest horse you could ever come across.
He is black as black as black, long, and big at 15.2hh. He is like a big pet lamb; he comes when you call him and is just a wonderful horse to have around”.

He travels very smoothly and doesn’t have to rush; he just does his job from pure talent. He makes it look easy.”
Bryan said that Conjessman’s progeny have his cool mind. While still a ten-year-old (as of 2024), he already has progeny competing, and they are highly sought after in the sale ring. The highest sale price so far was $80,000, for the 7-year-old mare Berragoon Stash at the Berragoon ASH Sale in 2024.
Conjessman has a long list of wins and places under his belt, in campdrafts and challenges. He is an excellent and consistent competitor and has the looks, style and temperament needed by a top-level sire.
