One Direction is a colt offering a new dam line into our industries and is by the wonderful sire in Hazelwood Conman. He is the result of big decisions Debbie Gesler made after being left with a wonderful team of broodmares when her late husband, Peter, passed away.
Although the bulk of the horses were sold prior to Peter’s passing, they kept some of the Seligman Spin mares and Debbie has since decided to continue to breed quality horses as she had done with Peter. She purchased a smaller property at Pittsworth and began to search for a stallion to compliment the breeding program she and Peter had envisaged for their mares.
Debbie has retained two sires in Seligman Spin and Al Capone, who is by Conman and from the brilliant Seligman Spin mare Possum Sue. However as both these sires carry the genetics of her Seligman mares a new stable sire was needed.
When Debbie saw One Direction she was impressed by his size, temperament and conformation but was equally impressed with the opportunity he presented through his sire, Conman, while recognising his thoroughbred influence through his dam, Number Seven.
Number Seven is the extremely well credentialled polocrosse mare owned by Les Fraser who is well known for his generations of exceptional polocrosse horses that have represented Warwick, Queensland and Australia for decades.
Knowing how well the Conman Seligman Spin cross is performing Debbie thought this would be the ideal genetic cross with her Seligman Spin mares.
She has already bred him to several mares including Seligman Ellie and is very excited to see what the future holds for this cross.
One Direction is currently with Jon Templeton and we will get to see him in the competition arena shortly.
