Ben & Jaye Hall

Story

Winton 1983: Jaye’s father Noel Daley drafting Daley’s Rio.

A very exciting chapter of horse breeding is about to gain momentum and it will undoubtedly produce champions in every sense. Jaye Hall is mentoring their young colt, Eldorrio, to become a star in a very famous stable and without doubt she is excited at what the future will hold for this full brother to their highly decorated mare, Halls Eltorrio.

The contribution to campdraft genetics from the Ben and Jaye Hall stable is immense. They breed, train and compete with home bred horses carrying generations of Daley bred genetics. They also regularly offer young horses for sale so the wider community is able to share in the success of years of careful breeding.

Daleys Rio sired Daleys Rio Legend, who sired Daley’s Playrio who has now sired  Eldorrio. This paternal line needs no introduction as winner after winner appears carrying this “Playrio” bloodline.

Eldorrio.

As Daleys Playrio is approaching a grander age Jaye and Ben were looking for something special to replace him as their resident sire and with such a grand band of broodmares it was inevitable that a potential champion would appear. However, when Eltorrio had such a clean correct younger brother with her looks, ability and temperament it was obvious that Eldorrio would be given every opportunity to be that replacement sire.

Eldorrio and Eltorrio are from Kate Everett’s mare Morrisons Citori, By Morrisons Top Gun and carrying both Elliotts Creek Cadet and thoroughbred bloodlines. Natural cattle sense and ability abound and from reading Eltorrio’s CV which includes winning the Canning Downs and the ACA Open Horse of the Year, the combination of Citori and Playrio genetics is a breeding masterstroke that is producing “SIMPLY THE BEST”.

Dam: Morrisons Citori

Jaye Hall’s sums up how much they thought of this great mare in a Memorial Facebook post the day they lost her!

“We laid to rest the grand old mare, Morrison’s Citori yesterday…she is buried in the elite area near Lex & Brownie’s rock. I can’t claim to own her as Kate Everett does but I do know her as one of our own as we had a foal for foal deal with her. She spent many years here & lived out the last of her years with us at Bibil around the house after having her final foal at 26.

Old Tori was by Morrison’s Top Gun, out of a thoroughbred mare Cinderella that Kate’s grandmother drafted and she would have turned 30 in October. We feel she & Playrio was a cross on the money as Kate got her Novice mare Rio Belle & their All round gelding Pistol Knight and we were extremely lucky to get our Champion mare, Eltorrio & our 3yo colt Eldorrio who is exceeding all expectations.

RIP Old Tori, she was a gem & we will miss her at the feed-room door as will Billy & Glossy.

Thank you Kate for the opportunity.”

Maternal grandam: Cinderella

Cinderella was very highly regarded by astute members of the campdraft fraternity in her day, and her legacy has continued.  Older generations in the Springsure area involved in drafting still remember her and talk about what a great mare she was.

The greats are never forgotten!

Paternal Grandsire: RIO'S LEGEND

Rio’s Legend, died at a young age with only 8 progeny on the ground.  Some of these include:

  • Scenario – Winner of Champion of Champions at Warwick, Aggregate of Cannings and Gold Cup Drafts at Warwick, JHS Barnes trophy at Warwick as well as multiple Open drafts.
  • Special Request – Open mare.
  • Levi – Novice gelding.
  • Remenisce – Novice mare, retired injured.

Paternal Great Grandsire: Daleys Rio

Daleys Rio was ACA Champion Sire of Australia for 3 years in the 80’s for Jaye’s parents, Noel and Dallas Daley.

Daley’s Rio won over 70 open drafts for Noel, carried Dallas to two ACA Lady rider titles.

In addition, Jaye and her brother Kelly both won numerous Junior drafts on him and Noel picked up, roped & bulldogged off him, often all in the same weekend.
