Peter Shakspeare can pick a good horse, and Pete Comiskey sure can ride them!

Peter Shakspeare bought SODA BLUE EXOTIC (by One Stylish Pepto) for $25,000 as a 3yo at the 2021 Nutrien Classic Horse Sale. He’d seen him out the back, liked the look of him and thought he’d be a perfect project to train and get going. He was sold by the Knight Family and goes back to Warrenbri Omega.

After 12 months Peter handed the reins over to Pete Comiskey who slowly put him through his paces and he won the 2024/25 ACA Champion Rookie Horse of the Year title.

Fast Forward to 2026 and he has etched his name in history winning Pete’s 4th Willinga Park Gold Buckle Title. It’s ironic that Peter Shakspeare calls him “THE GHOST”, because he has certainly launched himself out of the shadows and in to the limelight.

His earning this week amount to $112,100 (Gold Buckle win, Semi Final win, 2nd Novice Shootout) and he won a beautiful Roo Hide saddle having achieved the highest aggregate over the 4 rounds…and a swag of other incredible prizes.
This gelding may have taken a wee bit of time to get there, but it was most certainly worth the wait.
