You’ve got to love a happy ending.

Last Saturday Alligator Blood blew his rivals out of the field with a convincing win in the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast.  The favourite’s start was in jeopardy when he was caught up in a horror accident on the M1, but the Universe provided.  A police escort, a delay in the start of the race and he was good to go, straight off the float…well nearly.

The start was again delayed for several minutes when a horse broke through the barriers, galloping a lap of the course riderless before being withdrawn by stewards.

The gelding lived up to name, derived from a poker term given to outstanding players who prove unflappable under great pressure, winning by 2 lengths.

So many great photos and videos to capture the moment but our favourite it the moment when trainer David Vandyke puts him back in his paddock after his 8 hour round trip.

Great to witness the sheer pleasure of a contented horse, just being a horse.

Congratulations to ecstatic trainer David Vandyke, jockey Ryan Maloney and all connections.
