NCHA Futurity

2022 saw the NCHA Futurity in Tamworth celebrate its 49th year. The Futurity has been a feature of the equine calendar since 1973 and has become the pinnacle of cutting in Australia.  This iconic event has grown to be the largest indoor equine event in the southern hemisphere, but is still steeped in Australian history and tradition, both of which are proudly preserved.

The Futurity event is for 3 year old horses who have never been shown on cattle in a competitive environment, although they have spent the preceding 18 months training for their debut in the show arena.  Ordinarily it is professional NCHA trainers who compete in the Open divisions, whereas in the Non Pro classes, Non Professional riders compete for the love of the sport.

In addition to the action packed cutting program, some of the evening entertainment includes the popular NCHA Stockman’s Challenge, Aussie Horseman Demonstration, Bull Riding, Rodeo, Professional Farriers and country music entertainment.

The NCHA Futurity is held at the end of May through to June at the Australian Equine & Livestock Events Centre (Aelec), Tamworth.
