Horse of the North Challenge is a Stockman’s Challenge event held annually at the Dalrymple Equestrian Centre, Charters Towers. There are two major age divisions; Under five years Challenge and Open Challenge. The event consists of a Dry Work Pattern and a Cattlework section, similar to campdrafting. The event is run in conjunction with the Toomba Stockhorse Sale.

The vision for Horse of the North is to build an event that is for all Competitors; from seasoned professional to first time riders – everyone is welcome and encouraged. The Horse of the North Committee’s focus is on seeing horsemanship improve; especially with the younger up and coming riders as they are the future of their sport.

The Horse of the North is now one of the most coveted Stockman’s Challenge events to win on the Performance Horse Calendar and boasts huge cash and prizes.
